CAREER TECHNICAL INSTITUTE PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy covers the types of information we collect from you when you visit our website or submit an information request form, how we use such information, and under what circumstances we disclose it. By using the Career Technical Institute (CTI) site, you agree with the terms and conditions of this privacy policy and Terms of Use.

1. Information Collected

When you use our site, we receive and collect certain information. The information that we receive and collect depends on what you do when you visit CTI.

a. Automatically Collected Information. Some information is automatically received and sometimes collected from you when you visit the CTI site. We receive and collect the name of the domain and host from which you access the Internet; the Internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and the Internet address of the web site from which you linked directly to our site. We use this information to monitor the usage of our site. Also, when we send emails to you, we may be able to identify information about your email address, such as whether you can read graphic-rich HTML emails. All of the information we automatically capture provides us with the ability to enhance our users' experience at CTI and to determine aggregate information about our user base and usage patterns.

b. Information Collected via Cookies. CTI uses cookies to enhance your experience on the CTI site. "Cookies" are small files or records that we place on your computer's hard drive to collect information about your activities on the CTI site. The cookies transmit this information back to the computers at CTI or our third-party distributors of our newsletters; these computers are, generally speaking, the only computers which are authorized to read such information. CTI does not share the cookies it sets with its third-party distributors.

Most people do not know that cookies are being placed on their computers when they visit the CTI site or most web sites because browsers are typically set to accept cookies. If you do not want CTI to place cookies on your computer, you can choose to have your browser warn you every time a cookie is being sent to you or you can turn off cookie placement. Note that if you choose not to accept cookies, your overall Internet browsing experience may be affected.

c. Information You Actively Submit to CTI. For some of the services we provide, you may be asked to submit "Contact Info" consisting of such information as your name, email address, address, and phone number.

Your “Contact Info” is required in the event you want to: (i) request more information; (ii) subscribe to our newsletters; or (iii) post material to message boards when applicable.

d. Creating a CTI Account or Completing an Order. Information is also collected in connection with the opening of an account, or to order CTI products or services when applicable.

2. How Information Is Used

Occasionally, CTI uses information collected from your Contact Info to collect aggregate data about the demographics of our users. You can prevent us from using your information for this purpose at any time by setting your browser to reject cookies.

3. Information Disclosed

CTI shares the information collected from your User Profile as follows:

a. Subcontractors. We send your User Profile to third-party subcontractors and agents that work on our behalf to provide certain services. These third parties do not have the right to use the information contained in the Contact Info beyond what is necessary to provide those services. All subcontractors are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of the User Profile and are restricted from using such information in any way not expressly authorized by CTI.

b. Service Providers. We send your User Profile to third-party providers of goods and services that you may purchase from time to time on our site (e.g., books). Like subcontractors, these third parties do not have the right to use the information contained in the Contact Info beyond what is necessary to assist us. Third-party service providers are contractually obligated to maintain the confidentiality and security of the User Profile and are restricted from using such information in any way not expressly authorized by CTI.

c. Credit Card Companies (when applicable). When purchases are made with a credit card, certain information must be disclosed to the financial institution in charge of processing transactions. These third-party financial institutions and their vendors will receive the credit card number and other personal identifying information for the exclusive purpose of verifying the identity and authenticity of credit card numbers and processing transactions on our behalf.

d. Law Enforcement Investigations. CTI may release your User Profile when we believe, in our good judgment, that such release is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce or apply the terms of any of our policies or user agreements, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CTI, our users, or others.

4. Communications from CTI

As a customer, you may receive the following communications from the CTI:

a. Transaction and Account Maintenance Information. These communications are designed to inform you about pertinent information regarding your account, and include, without limitation: order confirmations, order update notices, order problem notices, and notices regarding material changes to site policies and account management procedures.

b. Newsletters. You may receive newsletters from CTI containing information about CTI and its partners. We send newsletter emails regarding programs and services from CTI. You have the right to stop receiving these communications by electing to “opt out.” Any CTI customer who does not wish to receive such product and service communications can remove his or her contact information at any time by clicking the “opt out” link on bottom of the email.

5. Underage Users

From time to time, parents and guardians allow their children under the age of 18 to browse our site and to post to CTI Message Boards when applicable. CTI highly values these posts. However, in order to protect the privacy of the underage users of our site, users under the age of 13 are not permitted to post any contact information on message boards.

6. Linking to Third-Party Websites

When you click on links and banners on our site that take you to third-party web sites, you will be subject to the privacy policies contained on such websites maintained by third parties. While we support the protection of privacy on the Internet, CTI cannot be responsible for the actions of any third-party web sites. We encourage you to read the posted privacy statement of any and every site you visit, whether you are linking from our site or browsing on your own.

7. Changes to Privacy Policy

CTI reserves the right to modify or amend this privacy policy at any time by posting the revised privacy policy on our site. Any such changes or amendments will only affect the information we collect after the effective date of the change unless we clearly express otherwise.
